B2Run business race in Osijek was an opportunity to connect colleagues, strengthen teamwork and promote #EUChooseSafeFood campaign, whose national food safety authority partner in Croatia is the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH).
Despite the conditions that would be challenging even for professional athletes, part of the employees from HAPIH centres in Osijek showed an unbreakable team spirit. In colourful T-shirts with recognizable messages of the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) campaign, they joined another 500 competitors who, on Thursday, 30 June, each at their own pace, ran or walked five kilometres of the Osijek Promenade.
The focus was not on the results but the unity and persistence despite the high temperatures. As the organizers themselves have pointed out, the B2Run race is not only about competition and winning, but also teambuilding among work colleagues and between teams. It is a much broader story, especially since the B2Run race is an international story, just like EFSA’s food safety campaign.
“I am glad that we recognized the opportunity and registered for the B2Run race for the first time as an Agency. We broke the ice and are already planning a performance at the race in Zagreb this September, which we already know will be supported by an even larger HAPIH team. We used the race as an opportunity to promote messages about food safety, and we hope that this incentive will continue and that more and more employees will join us,” said the team captain, Jasenka Petrić.
Since health and an active lifestyle are central messages of the #EUChooseSafeFood campaign, T-shirts with campaign messages have been specially prepared for the B2Run race. That science stands behind food safety, supports activities to reduce food waste, protects against contaminants and foodborne diseases, and cares for animal welfare, runners and fans could read from the campaign visuals printed on the HAPIH team shirts.
